The University has four main funding sources:

  • State-aided funding, consisting primarily of state funds appropriated by the Unicameral, and tuition revenue
  • Revolving/Auxiliary funds, which are dollars generated and used by specific university entities, such as some academic departments, athletics, student housing, and parking services
  • Grants and contracts that are awarded to the University for very specific purposes and include rules for how the funding may be spent
  • University of Nebraska Foundation funding which is comprised of financial gifts from donors
